Billing and Collections
Accuracy and Compliance
Affiliated Pathologists Medical Group understands pathology as a service and as a business. Each pathologist in the Group is proficient in the coding process that brings revenues to the facility. Periodic coding in-service educational sessions are held to keep pathologists up-to-date. Having incorporated a double check system, the billing company reviews all coding for accuracy and completeness.
Billing Company
Affiliated Pathologists Medical Group uses Physician Data Management (PDM) to provide its professional billing and collection needs.
PDM has been providing billing exclusively for pathology since 2006. PDM has a staff of approximately 45 employees who are experienced in all facets of billing, coding and collections for pathology services. PDM currently bills for over 80 pathologists.
The company is able to process both manual as well as electronic claims and interfaces directly with electronic clearing houses to submit claims in addition to billing Medicare and Med-caid directly.
With the Hospital’s permission, PDM will interface with the Hospital systems to obtain the necessary data to bill for the professional services.
PDM and its software are HIPAA compliant.
PDM works with APMG to handle patient billing complaints or concerns. The billing service offers both phone patient support and written correspondence options for all patients or insurances to communicate with them.
In addition to accepting insurance payments, PDM does accept major credit cards as well as cash or check for payment of co-pays, deductibles, or self pay amounts due.
Managed Care/Insurance Contracting
APMG contracts with most insurance plans and managed care organizations that support our various facilities.
Although APMG strives to contract with most payers, we do attempt to negotiate reasonable reimbursement arrangements that are currently competitive in the local marketplace. The Group will work with any of our facilities to put in place contracts to support that facility.
