Annual APMG Advance Meetings

Stacks Image 11218
Affiliated Pathologists Medical Group embarked on a Strategic Planning effort in 2011 which culminated in July with a full day seminar called Advance 1.0. We were going to call the event a Retreat but Advance is a much better term to convey the goals and flavor of the event). The meeting represented our year-round commitment to improving the quality of our service.

Presentations were given by volunteer members of various Task Forces.  Over the years, we have had broad participation, which is remarkable considering how many locations our group covers. The meetings always feature team building exercises, report out sessions from each work group, and software demonstrations. We had to cancel our last two Advance meetings due to concerns over travel and COVID. Advance 10 is scheduled for the summer of 2022.

APMG Advance

Affiliated Pathologists Medical Group holds a two-day meeting every year. The topics are wide-ranging and all pathologists participate. Work Groups are formed the beginning of the year and each group reports on their findings at the Advance. A video compilation from one of our prior meetings, Below are examples of presentations from pervious meetings.

Molecular Pathology

Primary Objective:
To create a useful and easily accessible centralized database of information for molecular pathology testing on the APMG website.

Specific goals for website content are to provide:
  • an up-to-date listing of all currently available molecular tests for both neoplastic and non-neoplastic diseases
  • a reference information for molecular tests including normal pathways, alterations associated with disease, and their relationship to clinical therapies.
  • a database of laboratories currently offering molecular tests, complete with specimen requirements, estimated costs, and turnaround times.
  • Provide lists of clinical indications for determining which patients may benefit from molecular testing.
  • testing algorithms to guide appropriate ordering of molecular tests based upon current guidelines.
  • examples of how each test should be interpreted and reported.
  • standardized molecular testing comments for use on pathology reports.
  • a listing of useful reference sites and other molecular pathology resources.
