    Dr. Peake is the President of APMG and Chairman of the Board. She received her Medical Degree at the University of Colorado School of Medicine, where she also did a portion of her residency. She completed residency training at the University of California, Irvine Medical Center, where she served as Chief Resident. Upon completion of residency training, she was a staff pathologist at Long Beach Veterans Administration Medical Center. Followed by a position as clinical assistant professor of Pathology at UCI Medical Center. She was board certified in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology in 1988. Her association memberships include Phi Beta Kappa, Alpha Omega Alpha, American Society of Clinical Pathologists, United States and Canadian Academy of Pathology, California Society of Pathologists, and College of American Pathologists. Dr. Peake has assumed many service responsibilities and teaching positions during her staff pathologist career. She has six published articles, and her areas of special interest include cytology and breast pathology.

    Dr. Cortina was born in Torrance, CA at Little Company of Mary Hospital, 1963.  He is a passionate biologist from the molecular to whole ecosystem scale. He has a long history of patient care beginning with an EMT 1 in high school and nurse’s aid jobs through college. The Medical College of Wisconsin awarded him a medical scientist scholarship, where he completed his medical and microbiology doctorates. Dr. Cortina trained in AP/CP at UCLA. Later as a UCLA professor he developed a GI/Liver/Pancreas subspecialty practice and was Chief of GI Pathology for 10 years. His research interests are primarily in the area of unusual enteropathies such as endocrinopathies of the GI tract, intestinal transplant, HIV enteropathy, and NSAID injury. He has over 50 publications including some in the New England Journal of Medicine, American Journal of Surgical Pathology, Human Pathology, Gastroenterology and PLoS One.  He has taught medical students, residents and fellows. In recent years he has been active in the GI Pathology Society at the educational and executive level. He was named President Elect in 2014 of the Roger G. Haggitt Gastrointestinal Pathology Society. In 2013, he wished closer contact with community pathology and joined with Affiliated Pathologists Medical Group.

He performed his Residency in AP/CP at Oregon Health and Science University in Portland.
