Dr. Virgin graduated from the Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine in 1988. He completed his AP residency training at the University of Washington Medical Center in Seattle, where he was Chief Resident and Surgical Pathology Fellow in 1994-1995. He completed a post-doctoral fellowship in basic science research studying chromosomal rearrangements in a yeast model system at the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center. He has been Board Certified in Anatomic Pathology since 1993. He was a member of the Pathology faculty at the Wayne State University School of Medicine in Detroit and the University of Washington School of Medicine in Seattle before joining APMG. Dr. Virgin was the Laboratory Medical Director at the Seattle VA Hospital from 2015-2018.. Dr. Virgin is a member of the California Society of Pathologists and the College of American Pathologists. He currently serves as medical director at Redlands Community Hospital.
After a long time in academics, I am enjoying the Redlands Community Hospital setting. The lab staff and the APMG pathologists and administration are very collegial and supportive. They have all helped make the transition smooth. I'm enjoying the SoCal sunshine too!
